Drop Ceiling Lighting

When an actual structural ceiling also has a minor ceiling that hangs below it, the lighting beneath this is called suspended, false or drop ceiling lighting. Modern architecture gave birth to this new style. Drop ceilings complement any interior environment such as a living room, patio, bedroom or an office. Lights can beautify these ceilings even more.
There are many available light fixtures for these types of ceilings available today but setting them up may cause you some problems. You should educate yourself first on how to install them.

Similar to common lighting, drop ceiling lighting is not that hard to set up. First, you have to be decided on where you’ll place the lights and how many you’ll need. But always keep in mind that the location and number of lights are dependent on the room’s size. Installing them in the center of the room is most of the time ideal. If you want to give your ceiling or the whole room a more elegant appearance, you can try to set up the hangings like a downlight or chandelier.

Home improvement shops offer many types of lighting to accentuate decorative ceiling panels. These panels also vary in class and styles such as crystal LED lights or halogen. Your room can be given an enchanting atmosphere by these lights. They are also very convenient to adjust because they almost always come with a special remote control. Turning on, brightening and dimming of the lights are now very easy to do. Not to mention the added allure and contemporary style these lights bring to your room. Lighting closets, corridors and walkways require a different lighting approach. For these, a simple and plain lighting is more ideal. If you already selected the type and color of the drop ceiling panels for your room, half of the job has been accomplished. The other half has something to do with the installation. Below are useful tips on how to install your drop ceiling lights. The materials you have to prepare for your installation are as follows: wire nuts, drywall saw, measuring tape, lights and extra wires.

  • The tile should be taken of and laid on the saw horses. The position of the lights must be measured and labeled.
  • To get the definite hole size, pencil a raw line close to the housing’s base after you place the said housing onto the ceiling tile.
  • Use the drywall saw to stab out the hole. Then, the light housing should be set up in the hole. The lights come with black clips that should be used in this procedure.
  • Lastly, the drop ceiling tile and the trim to the ceiling should be reinstalled. Then, connect the wires and set up the bulb to the light housing.
In case you decided to add more lights, just repeat all the steps above. These lights can give your drop ceiling an unparalleled class and elegance especially when they complement well to the existing ambience of the room. So what are you waiting for? Go to your nearest home improvement shop and look for some fashionable lights that will give your drop ceiling lighting the beauty it deserves.
